The Bears vs Vikings will meet one last time this regular season, but playoff implications are certainly at stake. The Vikings must win to ensure their playoff berth as the second wildcard team in the NFC. The Bears, however, still have a shot at a first-round bye if they win and the Rams lose against the 49ers. Both teams have a lot to gain with a win here, but will the Bears be playing for the win or will they be resting their starters? Will the Vikings be better equipped to take down the NFC champions with a new offensive coordinator? These questions and more will be answered following this one.

The Vikings have more to play for and they are the home team. Because of this, they enter the game as a 4.5 point favorite. The Spread is currently set at -4.5 for the Vikings and +4.5 for the Bears.

Bears vs Vikings NFL Week 17 Odds & Expert Pick

Bears vs. Vikings Head to Head

The Bears won their last game against the Vikings, just last month, by a score of 25 – 20. Before that, the Vikings defeated the Bears both games during the 2017 campaign, first in October by a score of 20 – 17, then again in December by a score of 23 – 10.

Bears vs Vikings Statistics

Neither offense has been dominant, but both teams have found ways to win ball games. Chicago has the 21st ranked offense in the league, while the Vikings combined offense ranks 17th. Each defense has been incredible though with the Bears finding themselves at 4th best and the Vikings at 3rd best in the league.

The Bears primarily get their yardage from their run game which ranks 14th as opposed to their passing game at 20th. Minnesota is the opposite- getting most of their yards through the air which ranks as the 10th best in the NFL, but their rushing game is far from good at third to last.

Bears vs Vikings News

The interesting thing here is that the 49ers game will have direct implications to whether the Bears leave their starters in the game or not. This is specifically important in terms of the defensive unit, which sent 4 players to the Pro Bowl this year. Without the presence of Mack, Kirk Cousins becomes much more effective as well.

Bears vs Vikings is going to be a close battle.

This is something to watch for as the game unfolds. Eddie Jackson and Allen Robinson may miss the game altogether due to injury as well, so with a Bears team at less than full strength and possibly resting starters, the Vikings will have to lose this game on their own it seems.

Bears vs Vikings Prediction

I’ll take the Vikings to win, but not to cover. I think they edge the Bears by a field goal at most. I’ll predict a rather boring final score of 16 – 13. If the bears can get their offense going behind Tarik Cohen and Jordan Howard, this will be a long day for the Vikings, but if not, the playoff hopes for the Vikings may be spoiled in their own building.
