Arizona Should Get Close Win On NFL Odds vs Cincinnati

Posted by Aaron . on November 22, 2015 in

The Cincinnati Bengals head to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals in what some might consider a potential Super Bowl preview. After the Bengals struggled mightily on offense this past week, that seems like less of a possibility than it did a few weeks ago, but this is still an exciting enough game to get flexed to Sunday night on the television schedule. Let’s take a look at this prime-time NFL odds matchup.

NFL Odds and Game Preview: Bengals vs Cardinals

Date: Sunday, November 22, 2015
Time: 8:30PM
Venue: University of Phoenix Stadium
Opening Line: Arizona -4.5

One dimension of this game will be the way that the Bengals’ running backs can (or can’t) find some room to run among the Cardinals’ linebackers. Todd Gurley (19 carries for 146 yards) and Le’Veon Bell (24 carries for 88 yards) have been two backs that have run rampant on the Cardinals, leading to victories for the Rams and the Steelers. With Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill in the backfield, the Bengals can do that to the Cardinals too, so long as the Bengals’ offensive coaches don’t bail on the run like they did in the loss to Houston on Monday night. The Bengals need to commit to a run-first approach and the line needs to make opportunities for Bernard and Hill to make it into the secondary. Then, Andy Dalton won’t be coming up to the line facing third-and-long, like he was against Houston.

Even with the offensive struggles that the Bengals had, they were still in a position to win the game. However, they permitted Houston backup quarterback T.J. Yates to lead a winning drive in the fourth quarter, bringing an end to its try for a team-record nine-game winning streak. As Andy Dalton told Yahoo! Sports, “We can’t let there be any carry-over. That’s not the team we are, and we know what we’ve don’t to this point. This game doesn’t define our season. We know where we are.”

With a win, the Bengals can still go three games up on the idle Steelers in the division this week. However, the Cardinals are 16-4 at home during the three seasons when Bruce Arians has been at the helm. Arizona (7-2) has won two straight games on the road, and Carson Palmer has rolled in each one, throwing for a total of 737 yards and seven scores in the two games. Last Sunday, the Cards held on for a 39-32 victory in Seattle last week that gave them a three-game advantage in the NFC West. Arizona has gained more than 400 yards four weeks in a row, the longest streak they have had for that since at least 1950.
