NFL Betting: 2021 Season – Packers vs Cardinals Match Preview

Written by on October 27, 2021

We’ve made it to Week 8 of the NFL season, and we won’t have to wait long to watch arguably the top game of the week. We’ll see a great matchup on Thursday Night Football as the Green Bay Packers travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals. Green Bay comes into this one on a six-game winning streak. Their lone loss came in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints. The Arizona Cardinals are the only undefeated team left in the NFL. Let’s see how both teams arrive in this Packers vs Cardinals matchup so you can set down your bets against their NFL odds.

Green Bay Packers vs Arizona Cardinals Betting Analysis & Prediction

Green Bay Packers Betting Analysis

Ever since they were blown out in Week 1 by the Saints, the Packers have turned things around. Aaron Rodgers has played like the Hall-of-Famer, and the Green Bay offense has been stellar. Rodgers has thrown for over 1500 yards with 15 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

Aaron Jones is one of the top dual-threat running backs in the league and has been a huge weapon for the Packers this season. One thing that could greatly affect the Packers’ offense in this game is the status of All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams. Adams was placed on the COVID-19 list earlier this week. His status is unknown for now, but it’s unlikely that he will play on Thursday night. If Adams doesn’t play, it will be a huge blow to the Green Bay offense.

COVID-19 will take its toll on the Green Bay defense as well. Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry will not be at the game after testing positive. The Packers defense has given up just over 20 points per game this season. We’ll see if not having Barry controlling the calls will hurt the Packers.

Arizona Cardinals Betting Analysis

The undefeated Arizona Cardinals have taken the league by storm. The Cardinals have one of the league’s top offenses. Kyler Murray leads the way, as he has thrown for over 2000 yards with 17 touchdowns this season. Murray has a lot of weapons at his disposal, as he has a loaded group of wide receivers and a formidable tandem of running backs. The Cardinals’ offense averages over 400 yards per game while scoring an average of 32 points per game.

The Cardinals’ defense is the main reason that they are still undefeated. They’re allowing just over 310 yards per game while only giving up 16 points per contest. This unit has made a vast improvement over years past, and that is one of the main reasons that the Cardinals have made such a huge improvement.

When the news hit that Adams was unlikely to play, the spread favored the Cardinals by six points. The numbers aren’t much help in this one, as they’re favorable for both teams. The Packers are 6-1 against the spread this season and 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games. The Cardinals are 5-0 against the spread in their previous five.

We like the Cardinals to win the game, but it’ll be very close. We like the Cardinals to win 27-24, not covering the spread.
