2018 NFL Preseason Week 3 Sure Losers

Here are some teams we feel will take a loss in the 2018 NFL Preseason Week 3, no matter what the betting odds might say.

2018 NFL Preseason Week 3 Sure Losers

Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Dolphins lost a lot of talent this past season in Jay Ajayi, Jarvis Landry, and Ndamukong Suh. They were not a good team last season and they got worst. The Ravens have been consistent and continue to get production from veteran leaders like Eric Weddle, C.J. Mosley (who Ray Lewis called the best active MLB in the league), Marshal Yanda, and Terrell Suggs.

The combination of young talented, athletic players and technically sound veterans makes the Ravens a very interesting team to watch. I like them to beat the often undisciplined ‘Phins in this one.

Buffalo Bills to the Cincinnati Bengals

If you look at the stats, they would tell you that the Bills have a dominant passing attack this preseason. However, I have not been impressed with this team at all. Their top draft pick has the worst completion percentage of the quarterbacks on the roster, but what really scares me is that their running game is so down.

Creating a one-dimensional approach around something not considered to be a solid strength is dangerous and liable to get one of their passers hurt. The defensive unit has been stable, but not dominant. Not that the Bengals have been blowing the roof off of teams, but they look to be a more veteran-led team, a more stable team, and a more potent offense in general.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Dallas Cowboys

I like the birds to drop this game versus the Cowboys. I love what I’m seeing from Michael Gallup as a potential immediate number one option as a rookie. His deep routes can keep the pressure on corners to stay away from Cole Beasley underneath and honest against the run. Keeping Gallup, Beasley, and Elliot involved and active in the offensive scheme will deliver a win in this one.

Defensively, they have enough depth at the pass rushing positions and can swarm to the ball in the short passing game, something Arizona leans on heavily.

Indianapolis Colts vs. San Francisco 49ers

Two teams at very different places. It wasn’t long ago that the Niners were in the bottom of the barrel struggling for air, but now we find the Colts there. Lack of offensive line depth after losing Jack Mewhort this offseason to retirement left a hole in an already rebuilding line.

The Colts are sure losers for the 2018 NFL Preseason Week 3 against the Niners.

They do not have a dominant defensive player to their roster either and with instability at several positions like tight end, wide receiver, and even quarterback, the offense will need some time to get its legs under Frank Reich’s system. I like the more talented, deeper team in this one.

Houston Texans vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams have been resting their starters throughout the preseason, but expect that to change with only a couple games left before it really counts.

More snaps from starters like Brandin Cooks, Cooper Kupp, Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters, and Lamarcus Joyner will translate into a much more impressive game from both sides of the ball. The Texans just don’t have the firepower to compete with top-tier teams and this is one of them.

Those are a few of the teams we feel will take a loss in the 2018 NFL Preseason Week 3.
