2018 NFL Preseason Week 2 Sure Losers

Here is a look at a few of our sure-fire losers in the 2018 NFL Preseason Week 2 Betting action.

2018 NFL Preseason Week 2 Sure Losers

Green Bay Packers with Pittsburgh Steelers – Thursday

The Steelers have dominated the Packers in their last three preseason meetings and are possibly the most balanced team in the league on both sides of the ball. Additionally, Green Bay’s rushing attack is solely dependent on Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones, two running backs that don’t have much experience and are critical to their long-term successes, meaning the Packers will be very limited in how they deploy them.

I like Aaron Rodgers, but at some point, the Packers have to get this guy some help or they won’t even be competitive in the preseason games.

New York Giants at Detroit Lions – Friday

The Giants played poorly against the Browns last week and will continue to shield their prized jewel, running back Saquon Barkley from injury. After seeing torn ACLs for a handful of players last week, it’s probably warranted. This week they take on the Lions who have one heck of an offensive playmaking lineup.

Depth at the running back position and wide receiver positions, in particular, make Detroit a tough out in the preseason. Neither team looked particularly strong in their preseason debut, but look for Detroit to hammer those pedestrian corners from New York this week.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Minnesota Vikings – Saturday

The Jaguars have possibly the worst quarterback room in professional football. I don’t see much production from Blake Bortles or Cody Kessler in this one and Tanner Lee may not even make the squad at all.

Playing at Minnesota this week against a tough, deep defense and a defensive minded head coach, well that can spell disaster for this offense. The bottom line is if you can’t score, it’s tough to win. Look for a possible shut out from the second teamers in purple.

Houston Texans vs. San Francisco 49ers – Saturday

The Texans come into this game against the Niners with the 27th passing attack in the league so far. Granted this is through only one preseason week, but with Deshaun Watson still nursing that ACL, their quarterback room consists of only Brandon Weeden, Joe Webb, and Stephen Morris. None of those three quarterbacks were on the squad last year so that playbook is likely very thinned out for these guys.

The Texans are no favorites to win against the Niners during the 2018 NFL Preseason Week 2.

I’m not looking for production from any of the three and consequently, not much from their offense as a whole. Being one dimensional is a terrible way to win, especially against a team win a terrific offensive mind like Kyle Shanahan.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Tennessee Titans – Saturday

This one on paper, with a limited sample size, would prove to be a mismatch. The Buccaneers come to Nashville against the Titans with the number 6 overall offense, while the Titans stack up with a defensive unit second to last in the league, but there’s more to it than just those stats.

The Titans have a first-year head coach, a defensive-minded head coach at that. They will right the ship and look for that correction to be made this week in front of a home crowd. The Titans have dominated the Bucs in the preseason, winning the past three meetings by a combined tally of 95 to 38 points.
