2018 NFL Odds for Interceptions & Sacks

2018 NFL Training Camps have begun across the league, and the first week of the preseason is just over 3 weeks away. Fans have started making bets on win totals of their favorite team and placing bets on the eventual Super Bowl Champions. The odds are not yet released for interceptions or sacks, but we can look back at least season to get an idea of what the odds will look like.

2018 NFL Odds for Interceptions & Sacks

Interceptions-2017 Totals

  • DeShone Kizer 22
  • Cam Newton 16
  • Marcus Mariota 15
  • Ben Roethlisberger 14
  • Eli Manning 13
  • Joe Flacco 13
  • Kirk Cousins 13
  • Blake Bortles 13

Cleveland Browns quarterback, DeShone Kizer, led the NFL in interceptions last season, but he doesn’t figure to be the starter in 2018. The Browns selected Baker Mayfield with the number 1 pick in the NFL Draft, and he should take over the starting job at some point in 2018.

With Kizer out of the mix, look for Cam Newton or Eli Manning to have the best odds of leading the NFL in interceptions in 2018. Cam Newton is a very talented quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, but he takes plenty of chances. Newton throws into double and triple coverage often, which leads to a high number of interceptions. Giants quarterback, Eli Manning, actually cut back on his interceptions in 2017 but is annually near the top of this list. Manning has always been a risk taker, but he’s also a proven winner in the NFL.

The other three quarterbacks that should round out the top 5 are Ben Roethlisberger, Kirk Cousins, and Blake Bortles. Roethlisberger is the most accomplished quarterback out of this group but makes some questionable decisions on throws. Bortles has struggled in his career but did lead the Jaguars to the AFC Title Game last year.

Sacks-2017 Totals

  • Chandler Jones 17.0
  • Calais Campbell 14.5
  • DeMarcus Lawrence 14.5
  • Everson Griffen 13.0
  • Cameron Jordan 13.0
  • Ryan Kerrigan 13.0

Trying to handicap the sack leaders in the 2018 NFL season is very difficult, and the list above is missing several players who could easily lead the league in sacks. Defensive end, Chandler Jones, should be the favorite heading into 2018 after having a monster season for the Cardinals last year.

Vikings defensive end, Everson Griffen, was dominant on defense last season in leading the Vikings to the NFC Title Game. Calais Campbell anchors a very strong defensive line for the Jacksonville Jaguars and should be one of the favorites heading into 2018.

Other Names to Watch

J.J. Watt

If J.J. Watt can stay healthy and play in all 16 games this season, he might be the favorite for this race. Watt is impossible to block and is capable of winning a football game on his own for the Texans.

JJ Watt could end up as the sacks leader in the 2018 NFL Season.

Aaron Donald

Aaron Donald might be the best defensive player in the NFL, and he spends plenty of time in the quarterback’s face. Donald should get more sacks this year with the addition of Ndamukong Suh for the Rams.

Julius Peppers

Peppers has more than 150 career sacks and doesn’t seem to be slowing down despite his age. The veteran has the size and speed that allows him to get around the edge. Peppers should finish in the top 10 in sacks if he stays healthy.
