2018 Ford EcoBoost 400 Betting Preview & Expert Pick

NASCAR is back at Homestead this weekend. Miami will host yet another race this season. It’s tough telling which will be hotter, the temperatures for November or the competition between our top-level drivers remaining. The NASCAR Championship will be decided Sunday at 3 pm ET when the 2018 Ford EcoBoost 400 gets the green flag from Homestead-Miami Speedway.

This race comes only one month after Martinsville. Joey Logano snagged the checkered flag there despite being a 12-1 underdog. Logano bumped Truex Jr. out of the way on the final lap for the huge victory. Logano is poised to make another splash here and is as hot as any driver in the hunt. He was the first to punch the golden ticket to the playoffs of 4 with his victory in the First Data 500, the first race of 8. Logano, a driver with a little pedigree, was the Cup Series runner-up in 2016 and finished fourth in 2014. Let’s take a look at the NASCAR Betting favorites for this weekend.

2018 Ford EcoBoost 400 Betting Preview & Expert Pick

Kevin Harvick +250

The odds-on favorite, as with most experts, is Kevin Harvick. He’s a veteran driver with a crafty style. He has had success here at Homestead, having one win there, but his average finish here is what has me intrigued. He’s averaged over his career a 6.8th place finish when racing at Homestead-Miami. He’s also a previous championship winner, something that probably helps calm the nerves a bit when in the hunt, one would assume.

Kyle Busch +300

Kyle Busch won Sunday at the Can-Am 500 in Avondale, Ariz., to solidify his fourth consecutive top-four finish. He claimed victory at Homestead-Miami in 2015 to win his first and only championship. This was the one and only time he has won here at Miami. Look out for him as he’s having a terrific year. He’s already won an astounding 8 times.

Martin Truex Jr. +400

Many experts are picking Martin Truex Jr., who won this race a year ago en route to the Monster Energy Series championship and has had ample success on similar tracks.

Martin Truex Jr is one of the favorites to win the 2018 Ford EcoBoost 400.

Truex seems to be in the top few each time he straps on his helmet. He’s one of the very best drivers out there. Truex dominated throughout the regular season before struggling a bit in the postseason. Throughout his spectacular regular season, he won four races but hasn’t been in victory lane since July. He’ll look for that skid to end now.

Kyle Larson +450

Kyle Larson is another driver worth watching. Among the field, he has the best driver rating at 109.3, despite never winning at this track. I’ll make him my dark horse if not for Kevin Harvick.

Ryan Blaney +4000

Ryan Blaney comes in as a massive 40-1 underdog, especially for a driver who has been getting hot when it matters. Here’s a peak at his latest stretch of finishes since the playoffs kicked off. Blaney led 40 laps at Texas two weeks ago and finished second. Before that he was seventh at Kansas, fifth at Las Vegas and second at Kentucky. This guy knows how to find the leaderboard, but notice that he has no first place finishes lately? He’s come close several times, but hasn’t finished off the pack.
