NCAAF Betting: Odds to Win the Big 12 in the 2021 Season
Although they haven’t won many National Championships recently, the Big 12 is one of the top football conferences in the country. Known for their outstanding offenses and subpar defenses, the Big 12 teams can score some points. Over the past few seasons, this conference has been dominated by the Oklahoma Sooners.
Bob Stoops built the Sooners back into a powerhouse, and Lincoln Riley has continued where Stoops left off. Let’s analyze some betting trends within the Big 12. We’ll tell you about the favorite, a smart pick to win, and a dark horse that could make you a large profit against their NCAAF Conference Championship odds.
NCAAF Big 12 Season Preview – Betting Odds
Coming in at -130, the Oklahoma Sooners are the heavy favorites to win the Big 12 in 2021. With Spencer Rattler leading the way, the Sooners should have one of the top offenses not only in the Big 12 but in the country. Rattler will have a very talented group of running backs and receivers, and head coach Lincoln Riley is one of the top offensive minds in the game.
Nobody has ever questioned the Sooners’ offense, but plenty have questioned Oklahoma’s ability to stop their opponents from scoring. The downfall of the Sooners has been due to their defense. Defensive coordinator Alex Grinch has vowed to make the Oklahoma defense better, and he looks to be on the right track.
The 2021 Sooners defensive unit won’t be one of the top units in the country, but they will be much better than they have been in the past.
Other than dates with Iowa State and Texas, it looks like the Sooners should have a favorable schedule. We see them running the table in the Big 12 and playing for the conference title.
Matt Campbell has turned a bottom-dwelling program into one of the top programs in the midwest. Iowa State returns virtually their whole team from last year’s Fiesta Bowl-winning team. Quarterback Brock Purdy is one of the top offensive players in the conference, and he’ll be looking to lead the Cyclones to a conference championship.
Iowa State has shown a penchant for being able to beat the Sooners. This is Campbell’s best chance at winning the Big 12. Iowa State is a +260 to win it this season. The smart money should be put on the Cyclones.
After losing many key players from last year’s squad, not much is expected out of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. However, we think they may sneak up on some people and could make a run at the Big 12 title. At a +1200, Mike Gundy’s group is a long shot to win the title, but they have the ability to surprise some of the top dogs.
Gundy always has one of the best offenses in the country. They’re returning quarterback Spencer Sanders, and the Cowboys are loaded at the running back position. Oklahoma State always has a group of talented receivers, so we’re not worried about them scoring points.
If Oklahoma State can improve on the defensive side of the ball, they’ll give the top teams in the Big 12 a run for their money.
