It’s time for the NCAA Football Week 9 of the 2018 Season. Let’s take a look at the upcoming week of games and betting odds, along with our top picks.

NCAA Football Week 9 Odds Overview & Top Picks

Baylor (+14.5) at West Virginia (-14.5)

Will Grier was once one of the favorites to win the Heisman trophy this year, but the Mountaineers haven’t been as dominant as they once were after a major loss to Iowa State. We will be looking for Grier and that high powered offense to get right back on track in this one against a big twelve opponent. We will take West Virginia to cover even if the spread was 20 points.

Georgia Tech (+4.5) at Virginia Tech (-4.5)

Two teams not known for dynamic offensive production. Georgia Tech is known primarily for their old school option-style offense and lack of conventional passing, while the Hokies are known for superb discipline and special teams effort. We like Georgia Tech for the upset mostly due to ball control. No one in the country plays keep away better!

Miami (-3) at Boston College (+3)

Miami is in the middle of a disappointing season. Losing to LSU was the first blow, but we now know just how good they are. Then narrowly escaping a Florida State team that is pretty lackluster under a first-year head coach, and the latest blow coming as a loss at the hands of Virginia. We will take Mark Richt to rally the troops however and secure the road win. We will take the ‘Canes to cover the spread.

Clemson (-14.5) at Florida State (+14.5)

As previously discussed, the FSU Seminoles are a mess under the new coach, Willie Taggart. They’ve already lost 3 games out of their first seven. Look for them to make their way right back to .500 this week. We give them zero chance to upset Clemson. They are undisciplined, unfocused, and often find themselves outcoached.

Purdue (+2.5) at Michigan State (-2.5)

After pulling the upset of the season and defeating Ohio State, the Purdue Boilermakers will look to turn the focus to Michigan State. Unfortunately, we think that emotional win drained the team, while on the other side, being defeated by a bitter rival in the Wolverines of Michigan, MSU will be out for blood. We will take MSU to cover and then some at home.

Wisconsin (-6) at Northwestern (+6)

Wisconsin is just too good. Actually, Wisconsin running back, Jonathan Taylor is too good! I don’t think there is a team out there that can stop this guy, definitely not Northwestern. We will take him to score at least twice, leading to the Badgers to cover.

Florida (+6.5) at Georgia (-6.5)

Georgia already made their one mistake in their loss to LSU. We don’t expect them to make any more in their campaign to get back to the college football playoffs. We take them to win outright, but only by a field goal or so. We will take Florida to lose but cover the spread.

Washington State (+3.5) at Stanford (-3.5)

Perhaps the most intriguing matchup this week is the offensive production of Washington State, led by Gardner Minshew and head coach, Mike Leach against the defensive stalwart that is Stanford and their head coach, David Shaw. So far this season, Shaw’s team hasn’t held true to his typical makeup.

Stanford is one of the favorites to win in the NCAA Football Week 9.

Usually, his teams hold opponents to low scores and they run the ball effectively. So far, the running game has been effective enough, but not dominating, but they’ve allowed a lot of points. For that fact, we will take Washington State for the upset.

Texas (-3) at Oklahoma State (+3)

Texas is an interesting team because last year, they were not very good at all. This year is quite a different tune though. They find themselves right in the hunt for the Big 12. The only blemish is their opener against Maryland. They’ve already beaten their other rivals in TCU, Oklahoma, and Baylor. We will take them to continue their dominance and to cover.
