Looking ahead to the third week in the College Football betting season; we have a pair of Pac-12 teams getting together in Stanford. The USC Trojans will take on the Stanford Cardinals on Saturday September 17th, 2016. This is one of the best games of the day, but there are a ton of great games that week. The USC Trojans start the season with the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide, and then take on the Aggies of Utah State. Last season, the Trojans finished last season with an 8-6 record. USC fell in the final game of the season in the Holiday Bowl to Wisconsin. On the other side, it’s actually the Stanford Cardinal second game of the season. In the season opener, Stanford takes on the Kansas State Wildcats. The Cardinal last season lost their first game of the season at Northwestern, and then a home game to Oregon later in the season. The Cardinal smashed Iowa in the season finale in the Rose Bowl.

Why Bet on the Stanford Cardinal

The Stanford Cardinal have won or tied for the conference title in four of the five seasons head coach David Shaw has been at the helm. The Cardinal will have the best player in the nation back in action. Christian McCaffrey is the top running back returning to the game, following his season of last season of just under 3,900 yards. The Cardinal will watch Solomon Thomas and Harrison Phillips anchor the defense, along with linebacker Kevin Pelma. The Cardinal are once again going to be tremendous, and this will be quite the test against a conference foe, but home field should be a great assistance.

Clay Helton is the new head coach at the University of Southern California, and he will he have a new quarterback to work with. The Trojans quarterback likely will be Max Browne, who is taking over for Cody Kessler. USC will form one of the best running back combinations in all of the nation with Ronald Jones and Justin Davis. On the defensive side, USC will have a new coordinator, and several new additions via recruiting. The Trojans defensive secondary is going to be one of the best in all of the Pac-12, and that’s saying alot with the teams there.

How much fun is this game going to be? Two bitter rivals, and two teams that will eventually be in the national title picture at the end of the season? The Pac-12 will see these teams competing at the end of the day. Look for the Trojans to keep this game close throughout, but in the end the home team wins the game, but the Cardinal cover the spread. The best bet for this game is the Stanford Cardinal -6.5 over the USC Trojans in Week 3 of the NCAA Football season.
