With one loss already on their respective 2015 records, the Southern Cal Trojans and Arizona State Sun Devils will both be looking to keep their faint national championship hopes alive by avoiding what amounts to a ‘playoff-killing’ second regular season loss.  Now, let’s find out which Pac-12 title hopeful will bring home the bacon in this interesting matchup.

Arizona State rolled all over New Mexico in their Week 3 match to win 34-10 though they narrowly failed to cash in as a 25-point road favorite. Sophomore running back Demario Richard accounted for 255 total yards of offense by rushing for 104 yards while setting a school record for most receiving yards by a running back with 151 yards, including a 93-yard scoring play that ranks as the third-longest touchdown pass in Arizona State history. Senior quarterback Mike Bercovici passed for 317 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for another score to lead Arizona State to the easy win.

Southern Cal is coming off a 41-31 ‘upset’ loss against Stanford that wasn’t much of an upset to me – since I predicted it. The Trojans failed to cover the spread as a 9.5-point home favorite. Quarterback Cody Kessler completed 25 of 32 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns and hooked up with wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster eight times for 153 yards and one touchdown. Redshirt sophomore Steven Mitchell Jr. caught two touchdown passes, but the Trojans allowed Stanford to control the ball for almost 40 full minutes.
“It hurt the rhythm a little bit,” Kessler said. “Some drives we had momentum but penalties killed us. We need to capitalize when we do get possessions,” he added.

Game Analysis: Arizona State has won two straight against their Pac-12 rivals and I believe they’re the right pick to win and cash in again even though 55 percent of the betting public likes Southern Cal to cover the college football betting line.
Arizona State is 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against Southern Cal and 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings against USC overall.  58 percent of the betting public likes the Over, but I disagree, even though each of the last two meetings – and four of the last five overall – have all played Over the 63-point O/U Total for this matchup.
The Pick: Arizona State 35 USC 27
