Even the biggest Ohio State fan might be surprised to learn how large the spread is for this Saturday’s contest against visiting Penn State. The No. 2 Buckeyes (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten) are favored by 18.5 points over the No. 9 Nittany Lions (9-1, 6-1). Ohio State is 8-2 against the spread this season, with the two times they did not cover being their season-opener against Florida Atlantic and their most-recent game against Rutgers. Penn State is coming off a 34-27 win over visiting Indiana.

The Nittany Lions’ lone loss this season game at Minnesota two weeks ago, 31-26. Penn State comes to town on Saturday for another highly touted matchup which will basically decide the Big Ten East champion. With a win, the Buckeyes clinch the division crown.

Penn State vs Ohio State 2019 College Football Week 13 Odds & Pick

Why bet on Ohio State?

The Buckeyes have had a winning recipe all season long. Efficient and balanced on offense and suffocating on defense. There will need to be more of the same to remain unbeaten. They are the only team in the last 40 years to have started each of their wins by 24 points or more.

Justin Fields has been fantastic for the Buckeyes. Fields has completed 69.1% of his passes, has thrown 31 touchdowns to only 1 interception, rushed for ten more TDs and owns a QB rating of over 190. JK Dobbins has yet to play all four quarters in a game this year and that should change this week.

He has been a terror in the running and passing games alike this season.

The Buckeyes should also benefit from the return of stud D end Chase Young who missed two games to a suspension. He should be angry and that might spell trouble for PSU.

Why bet on Penn State?

Penn State has one of the top ranked defenses in the nation coming in top five the Big Ten and top 20 in the nation giving up only 13.5 ppg. Ohio State will have to account for two bookend defensive linemen in Shaka Toney and Yetur Gross-Matos each pulling in 6.5 sacks on the season.

They look to bring down Heisman candidate Justin Fields. Jk Dobbins will also be of high priority if PSU wants to keep them out of the endzone.

The Buckeye defense faces a more than capable Nittany Lion offense. QB Sean Clifford has been outstanding in his first year starting, throwing for over 2,400 yards and 22 touchdowns to only 6 interceptions.

Penn State has the second best offense in the Big 10 and will need to step up in order to match blow for blow with OSU.

Penn State coach James Franklin will have another opportunity to coach in the big game with this solid PSU team. He couldn’t secure the win against Minnesota but rebounded after Indiana last week.

Ohio State has been the most dominant team to take the field this year with and average margin of victory of 42 points.

The Buckeyes will be lucky to cover the 18.5 spread set by MyBookie but should be set to topple the Nittany Lions. Our pick in this game is Penn State +18.5.
