The Red River Rivalry, part two this season will determine the Big Twelve Conference Champion. Oklahoma has looked great all season. They were a bit of a surprise to me considering they lost some critical contributors on offense to the NFL including Baker Mayfield, Mark Andrews, and Orlando Brown. Head coach, Lincoln Riley proved he was the real deal and can we just admire Kyler Murray for a second? This kid is a really good college quarterback, but you can’t forget he is also a major league baseball player. Talk about an athlete! Let’s take a look at the latest Oklahoma vs Texas Betting Odds.

Oklahoma vs Texas 2018 Big 12 Championship Odds & Prediction

Oklahoma Has Heisman Candidate

Murray has also been able to avoid pressure and the ground in many cases his season, making him available and healthy for this game. In fact, the Longhorns defense might be the only team to truly harass Murray all season.

They pressured him early and often, achieving two sacks and one forced fumble inside his own 25-yard line, a costly mistake that if reversed, could have very well changed the final score of the game. If they can get to him as they did in the first meeting, the Longhorns are likely to limit Murray’s effectiveness and afford their team a much better chance at victory.

Texas Seeking Second Win over Sooners

Texas won the annual showdown earlier this season so the golden hat will stay in Austin no matter the outcome of this game. Still, despite a 48 – 45 win in October by the Longhorns, the Sooners are the favorite in this one. They enter the game as 7.5 point favorites on the neutral field at AT&T Stadium near Dallas. A win for the Sooners will likely mean a trip to the College Football Playoffs. A win for the Longhorns and, I think we can finally signal their reemergence in the sport after a few seasons watching from the sidelines.

Oklahoma will have to do something different about the wide receivers for the Longhorns. In their last meeting, the duo of Collin Johnson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey tore them for major yards downfield. They each combined for over 210 yards on just 15 catches.

Oklahoma vs Texas is one of the best NCAA Football Week 14 games.

Humphrey even tossed for a score in that game as well. OU’s defensive backs have struggled at times, especially with larger receivers like these two. The defensive unit as a whole is built to fly around the field and make plays, not necessarily for durability against larger athletes, exactly what Texas brings to the table.

Oklahoma gave up nearly 10 yards per carry to Kansas recently. Texas’ run game is much better and more dynamic with the presence of Sam Ehlinger at quarterback, who can also run, but I don’t have to tell Sooner fans about that. He made them pay by converting 8 of 16 3rd or 4th downs and accumulating 84 yards on the ground.

Oklahoma vs Texas Expert Prediction

Bottom line, if Texas can run the ball and keep Kyler Murray frantic or off the field, they can win this game. If they cannot, Oklahoma will outscore Texas in this one.

Ultimately, I’m just hoping for another instant classic that comes down to the wire. It’s not often we have two storied Universities, caught up in a rivalry, and both teams are at or near the pinnacle of the sport. In the end, take Texas to cover the spread.
