NFL Miami Vs New England Expert Predictions

Posted by Peter Boysen on September 16, 2016 in

Both the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots surprised fans and bettors alike with their performances. The Patriots went to Arizona and beat the defending NFC West champions despite featuring backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm. If the Patriots hadn’t fumbled twice, giving the Cardinals short fields for two of their touchdowns, this narrow win would have been a blowout. The Dolphins went to Seattle, where their expectations were quite modest, but they had a 10-6 lead until 31 seconds remained, when Russell Wilson hit Doug Baldwin for the game-winning score. Now these two AFC East rivals met in Foxboro. Check out the NFL lines for Week 2.

Why should you bet on the Dolphins?

Ndamukong Suh finally decided to mount a furious pass rush last week, finding Russell Wilson for a sack and taking part in four tackles in the game. Mario Williams remains questionable after a concussion but also sacked Wilson and contributed a couple of tackles. Even if Williams remains in the concussion protocol, Miami’s D-line still looks stout, featuring Suh, Andre Branch, Jason Jones and Chris Jones. That unit should wreak some havoc in the New England offense, clogging holes against the run and limiting the amount of time that Garoppolo has to get rid of the ball. The key for the offense is finding ways to penetrate the New England defense — but that unit has much less strength than their Seattle counterparts.

Why should you put your money on New England?

A lot of people thought that the Patriots should consider themselves lucky to go 2-2 (or maybe 3-1) in their first four contests, but one of those seemingly sure losses would take place in Arizona. Now that the Patriots emerged with that upset, they could find themselves 4-0 when Tom Brady returns from his suspension. The Patriots managed the clock well, chewing up minutes when the Cardinals could have used to mount more offense, by converting 10 of 16 third downs. The Dolphins converted just two of their 14 third downs, which played a major role in their scoring just 10 points. As long as the Patriots can cut down on turnovers (they had three fumbles against the Cardinals, losing two of them), they should manage the Dolphins easily.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I predict another strong game from the Patriot offense and an efficient game from their defense. My projected final score is New England 27, Miami 10.
