Navy at South Florida Week 9 Betting Pick & Prediction
The Naval Academy has earned the #22 ranking in the nation, thanks to a home upset of then-#6 Houston three weeks ago, part of their 5-1 record on the season so far. They head south to take on the 6-2 South Florida Bulls, who had this game circled in red at the start of the season, as Navy (along with Temple) figured to be their main competition for the title in the American Athletic Conference’s Eastern Division this season. The Bulls fell at Temple last week as quarterback Quinton Flowers had to leave the game with an injury. He remains questionable for this Friday’s tilt against the Midshipmen. Take a look at all of our college football betting picks for the coming weekend.
Navy at South Florida Week 9 Betting Pick, Prediction & TV Info

Why should you bet on the Midshipmen?
Navy relies on the triple option, as they have for years, so they put up big rushing numbers season in and season out. That served as their strategy to beat Houston a few weeks ago, as Will Worth fills the prototypical option quarterback style: a quick decision maker with swift feet. He has more than twice as many carries as any other player on the squad, and he has scored nine touchdowns with his legs. His five passing touchdowns represent a fairly high number for an option quarterback, showing a potentially lethal balance for their offense.
The Navy defense ranks #22 in the nation in yards permitted. That unit faces a stiff test in the Bulls, particularly if Flowers gets clearance and can play in the game.
Why should you put your money on the Bulls?
Flowers drives the offense and has a number of talented skill players around him to help him move the ball up and down the field. If you bet on the Bulls, you think that this offense will drive them faster than the sometimes plodding running attack of the Midshipmen (although they did hang 47 on Houston). The rushing defense of the Bulls permitted 319 yards to Temple, which does not bode well for this week. However, most of South Florida’s games have featured greater toughness than they showed against the Owls.
My Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction
I like the momentum that Navy has, but South Florida has a strong offense as well. Given that we don’t yet know whether Flowers will play, I will make two predictions here. If Flowers has to sit out, I predict that Navy will roll to a 37-13 win. However, if Flowers takes the field for the Bulls, I like him to power them to a 31-24 victory.
