The American Athletic Conference takes on Conference USA when the Navy Midshipmen (9-4) tangle with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (8-5) in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. Louisiana Tech comes in on a two-game losing streak, falling 58-44 to Western Kentucky in the Conference USA title game. Navy also enters on a two-game slide, having fallen to Army, 21-17, for the first time in 15 years. These two teams last met in 2010, when Navy won at Louisiana Tech, 37-23. Take a look at our prediction for this bowl game as well as the rest of our college football betting picks for the rest of the bowl games.

Louisiana Tech vs Navy Armed Forces Bowl Betting Prediction & Lines

When: Friday, December 23, 2016, 4:30pm ET Where: Amon G. Carter Stadium, Ft. Worth, TX TV: ESPN Radio: Navy / Louisiana Tech Live Stream: WatchESPN NCAA Football Odds: Louisiana Tech (-4.5), O/U 66

Why should you bet on the Bulldogs?

Louisiana Tech gained 507 yards and picked up 26 first downs in the Conference USA title game, but it was not enough, as the Western Kentucky offense simply overwhelmed them in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs did get three takeaways and had a pick-six, but they just couldn’t keep up with the Hilltoppers. They do score 44 points per game, sixth-best in the nation, led by quarterback Ryan Higgins (37 TD, 8 INT). Tailback Jarred Craft picked up 1,011 yards on the season, scoring six times, and both Trent Taylor and Carlos Henderson picked up more than 1,400 receiving yards each on the season. Navy had some iffy moments on defense this year and will need to solidify their attack if they want to stay with Louisiana Tech.

Why should you put your money on the Midshipmen?

Navy lost in the AAC title game and in their rivalry game against Army thanks to injuries to their starting quarterback, Will Worth and their key tailback. Zach Abey will take the field on offense against Louisiana Tech, but he struggled to move the team against an Army defense that would not have done nearly as well with the starters in play. Tailback Dishan Romine will have to lead the way for Navy, but taking on a high-powered attack like what the Bulldogs bring will be a major challenge for the Midshipmen.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

Navy had a terrific season, but they are missing two key players — and they will suffer as a result. I predict a final score of Louisiana Tech 34, Navy 16.
