Clemson vs Ohio State 2019 Fiesta Bowl Odds, Preview & Prediction

The night cap of Saturday’s game will be the Playstation Fiesta Bowl. The Clemson Tigers will take on the Ohio State Buckeyes at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona. The majority of the first round picks of the NFL draft could be on display in this game as these two teams are serious threats to win the national championship.

The last time these two programs met it was in this same stadium but Clemson was able to throttle Ohio State by a final score of 31-0. Ohio State has actually never beaten Clemson in the previous three games either.

This should be the crown jewel of the CFP as these teams are both well coached and have excellent players on both sides of the ball. Here is a closer look at the Fiesta Bowl with the latest NCAAF Odds.

Clemson vs Ohio State 2019 Fiesta Bowl Odds, Preview & Prediction

Why Bet on Clemson Tigers?

The Tigers are led on defense by linebacker Isiah Simmons, who won the Butkus Award for best backer in the country. It is behind his stellar play that they have the number one defense in the country.

They haven’t allowed more than 300 yards a game at all this season, which is extremely rare. The rush defense is just as stout as they have yet to give up 150 yards on the ground in a game this season. Teams average less than four yards per play against this Clemson defense in what could be Dabo Swinney’s best coached team, despite his previous championship teams.

Trevor Lawrence has yet to lose a college football game since he was named the starter for Clemson. While this season has not been as stellar as his previous campaign, he has still been incredible.

His receiving corps features Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins who will both probably go in the first round of the draft. Travis Etienne has been responsible for carrying the load on the ground and has done exceptionally. They are a big reason the margin of victory has been so high this season for the Tigers.

Why Bet on Ohio State Buckeyes?

Chase Young and Justin Fields anchor both sides of the ball for the Buckeyes and did so well that they were finalists for the Heisman. Fields has accounted for 50 touchdowns with 10 of those rushing touchdowns, all while only throwing one single interception. That is the second highest scoring total and the lowest turnover rate in the country.

JK Dobbins has also been the focal point of the offense as he rushed for almost 2,000 yards and 20 scores, both of those not factoring in his staggering receiving totals.

Young missed two games due to suspension and still was able to push this defense into the top three in most of the major categories. Even when he isn’t able to make a play he still requires the attention of the defense in order to make sure he doesn’t wreck the play. Jeff Okudah is a true shutdown corner on the back half of the defense and is a probable top ten pick in this years draft.

Clemson vs Ohio State Prediction

The Clemson Tigers are the more experienced team with the superior coaching staff and as a result are the minus- two point favorites on MyBookie. The betting line is set at 63.5 points so while not as high as the other semifinal game, it will still be a shootout.

The Clemson Tigers will be able to outscore and make just enough stops on third down to get off the field and will not only win this game but be able to cover the spread. Dabo Swinney is among the best big game coaches in the nation and it will show in this exciting CFP semifinal game.
