This Friday’s American Athletic Conference game features the Cincinnati Bearcats heading down south to take on the Bulls of the University of South Florida. Cincinnati (6-4) is favored by three to win on the road against the Bulls (6-4). USF is still the talk of the conference after they upset the mighty Temple Owls at home last week with a 44-23 walloping. Last week Cincinnati overcame the speedy offense of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at home, 49-38. Cincinnati has won eight of the 12 meetings between these teams, including a 34-17 beating last year in Cincinnati, in which the Bearcats rolled up 590 yards of total offense.

Cincinnati is in third place in the American Athletic Conference’s East Division, a game behind USF. Quarterback Gunner Kiel has thrown for 2,423 yards and 18 scores. Shaq Washington leads all Bearcat receivers with 795 yards and five scores. Last week when Cincinnati beat Tulsa, Kiel threw for 386 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Mike Boone picked up 137 yards on the ground, scoring three times. Tommy Tuberville, the Bearcats’ head coach, told Yahoo! Sports, “It was very important that we get this one, knowing that we had to go two on the road in some very tough games.”

The Bulls have won five of six and still have a chance to make it into the AAC title game, as they are just a game behind Temple in the East. Quarterback Quinton Flowers has a QB rating of 144.92 this season, the second best in USF history. He has thrown for 1,676 yards and 14 scores. Marlon Mack has been a force on the ground, rolling up 1,065 yards and six scores in ten games.

Cincinnati Bearcats

Cincinnati is 2-5-1 against the spread in the last 8 tilts as a favorite. They are 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games after permitting over 200 yards on the ground. USF is 5-0-1 against the spread in the last six contests on grass, 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven games, 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five home tilts, and 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six conference contests. The fact that USF has a chance to play for the division title means that they should come out ready to play hard. I like them to contain the Cincinnati offense, since they destroyed the Temple “O” last week. So take the Bulls to win.
