The last seven times that Stanford has played USC, they have won five of them, covering the NCAAF betting spread four times. When they met in September during the regular season, they upset the Trojans. Now, the two teams meet in San Francisco’s Levi’s Stadium in the Pac-12 Championship Game on Saturday night. Stanford is favored by 4 points to carry off the Pac-12 trophy.

Betting on Stanford Cardinal

It’s true that Stanford fell to the inconsistent Oregon Ducks. However, in the two weeks since they have righted the ship and beat Notre Dame last week 38-36 thanks to a last-second field goal. The Irish had gone up by one point with 30 seconds left, but Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan completed a big pass, and Notre Dame took a foolish personal foul, giving Stanford kicker Conrad Ukopina a much more doable kick to ice the game on the last play. The Cardinal had gone up early, 7-0, but then permitted a 93-yard kickoff return for a score. The Cardinal went up 28-23 in the third quarter but then permitted a 62-yard run for an Irish score. Each time the Stanford defense buckled, Hogan pulled them back into it, throwing for four big touchdowns. Stanford is 10-2 and has an outside chance of landing a spot in the College Football Playoff with a victory. Stanford will face against USC.

Betting on USC Trojans

The Trojans found another gear and steamrolled the UCLA Bruins last week. USC was behind, 21-20 in the third quarter, but then they ran off 20 straight points to gain the win and cover that three-point spread. They won the time of possession battle by a whopping 20 minutes, and they outgained UCLA on the ground, 235-140. Since Steve Sarkisian left the team, the Trojans are now 5-2.

What Should You Consider Before Placing Your Bets?

When the two teams met back in September, Stanford was the wise choice. The favorite in this series is 0-4 straight up and against the spread in the last four meetings. USC has a lot more momentum going into this game than Stanford does. The likelihood of two-loss Stanford gaining a playoff spot is slim at best. This is not going to be enough motivation for the Cardinal to overcome a team that is salivating over the chance to overcome the awful start to the season and get revenge for that win down in Los Angeles back in September. I’m taking the Trojans in this one, and I’d take them straight up without a line, let alone the four-point cushion.
