NCAAF Betting: Top 25 Winners & Losers Nov. 26th Edition
It was time for some of the “Cinderella” stories of the college football world to shine last Saturday. Teams that aren’t normally associated with the top teams in college football had chances to make their mark on the college football world. Let’s take a look at what teams moved up in this week’s AP Top 25, and which teams went the other way. Here are this week’s winners and losers so you can place your bets against their NCAAF odds.
NCAA Football Top 25 Winners & Losers After Week 12
Winner: Northwestern Wildcats
The Wildcats made a huge statement as they beat the Wisconsin Badgers. Northwestern is now up to #11 in this week’s AP Top 25. The Wildcats defense played flawlessly, as they forced the Badgers into five turnovers. Pat Fitzgerald has done a great job with this program, and if they can keep on winning, there’s a spot in the Big 10 Championship game waiting for them.
Winner: Oregon Ducks
Even though the Ducks have been winning ugly, they’re still moving up in the poll. This week they come in at #9. The Ducks benefitted from losses by Indiana and Wisconsin. Oregon is hoping that they can go through the Pac 12 undefeated so that they have a shot at one of the four playoff spots.
Winner: Oklahoma Sooners
Just a few weeks ago, the Sooners were pretty much left for dead. After Kansas State and Iowa State upset them, many were calling this season a disappointment. Well now the Sooners are back and have climbed all the way to #14 in the latest AP poll. The Sooners have really improved on defense, and that has been what has gotten them to this point. If they continue to win out, they have a legitimate shot at making the Big 12 title game.
Loser: Liberty Flames
Hugh Freeze and his squad had finally gotten into the top 25, and now after last Saturday’s loss to NC State, the Flames are back on the outside looking in. They had their chances to win, but they just couldn’t get over the hump. Even though his team is in the loser category this week, Freeze could end up a big winner as many top programs who will have job openings could be looking his way.
Loser: Wisconsin Badgers
Top 10 one week, and now down to #18 the next. That’s what a loss to the Northwestern Wildcats will do to you. Last week many were predicting a Wisconsin vs. Ohio State Big 10 Championship game. Now it will take a lot of luck for the Badgers to get there. Northwestern shut down Wisconsin’s offense, and made the Badgers look like a mediocre team.
Loser: Coastal Carolina
When you’re not a big name program, you can still move down in the poll even when you win. This is the case for the Chanticleers, who had a tough win over Appalachian State last Saturday. Even after the win, Coastal Carolina moved down from #15 to #16 in this week’s poll. They were jumped by a two-loss Iowa State squad. One of Iowa State’s losses is to Louisiana, a team that the Chanticleers beat earlier this season. Coastal Carolina has their work cut out for them if they want to make it into a New Year’s Six bowl game.
