Take The Bulldogs As Your NCAAF Odds Pick In The Belk Bowl

Posted by Aaron . on December 28, 2015 in

The Wolfpack of North Carolina State has been a reliable NCAAF odds bowl bet in the last decade, winning six of its last eight bowl games straight up (6-1-1 ATS). Mississippi State has also won six of the last eight (5-2-1 ATS). The Belk Bowl features a tilt between these ACC and SEC programs this Wednesday at 3:30pm Eastern time. Mississippi State is favored to win by a touchdown.

Why should you bet on North Carolina State (+7)?

The Wolfpack started out 4-0 both straight up and against the spread. Then dropped their first two conference games (to Louisville and Virginia Tech) before alternating wins and losses the rest of the way. They did put a scare into both Clemson (staying within six late in the third period) and Florida State (initially leading 17-7 before losing). Their balanced offense (just about even in terms of passing and rushing yardage) helped them score 34 points per week. their defense is #19 in the nation, permitting only 333 yards per week. They could definitely hang around with the Bulldogs too.

Why should you take the Bulldogs (-7)?

Mississippi State began 2-3, winning over Southern Miss but losing to Texas A&M and LSU. They ran off four straight wins, averaging 41 points per game, before falling to Alabama. They did win at Arkansas in a zany game, but then they fell to Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl, 38-27, to finish the regular season. They have played well when favored (4-2 ATS), particularly when the spread is less than 14 (3-0 ATS).

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Wolfpack’s most impressive wins came against BC and Syracuse. Mississippi State has wins against much more solid programs. Dak Prescott will be quarterbacking the Bulldogs again, and he will be looking to finish this season with a flourish.

My final prediction: I’m taking Mississippi State, 28-17.
