Baylor at Oklahoma NCAA Football Lines & Game Info

The fallout from the scandal surrounding sexual assault allegations and the firing of former head coach Art Briles appears to have taken its toll the last two weeks, as the Baylor Bears lost to Texas on the road and then came home to take a 62-22 drilling from TCU, their worst home loss in 11 years. Oklahoma (7-2) still sits atop the Big 12 after their 34-24 win over Iowa State a week ago. When these two teams tangled in 2015, Oklahoma prevailed by a 44-34 margin. Check out all of our NCAA football betting picks for this week.

Why should you bet on the Bears?

When Baylor took on TCU, the team wore all black uniforms and had their fans dress in black. Some saw this as a show of support for former coach Art Briles, but what happened instead was a meltdown by Baylor on both sides of the ball. The offense struggled, as quarterback Seth Russell went just 20 for 36, gaining 282 yards but just throwing a single touchdown — as well as a pick. The issue for Baylor came on defense, though, as the Bears permitted 688 total yards, including 431 on the ground — and five rushing scores. In the last two games, the Bears have permitted 97 points. If you pick Baylor, you believe that they can fix those defensive issues.

Why should you put your money on the Sooners?

Oklahoma roared back from a three-point deficit with a 20-7 run to close out their win over Iowa State. Quarterback Baker Mayfield ran the show masterfully, throwing four touchdown passes, giving him four straight games with at least four scoring passes. He has 31 touchdown passes and six picks for the year, so he does well with ball security. The Sooners did not have their top two tailbacks in Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon, but Mixon returns from a suspension and should find plenty of running room against the Bears. The issue with the Sooners has come on defense, as they have permitted almost 32 points per game. If you pick Oklahoma, you like them to follow TCU’s blueprint in shutting down the Bear attack.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Baylor Bears show a lot of resiliency, but now that they cannot win the Big 12, I expect a dropoff in effort this week. I also like Oklahoma to make a statement this week as they remain on the fringes of the College Football Playoff conversation. I predict a final score of Oklahoma 41, Baylor 21.
