Why should you pick the Musketeers?
As Myles Davis goes, so go the Musketeers, and he has been playing lights out as of late. In the Musketeers’ win over Providence, he recorded a triple-double (11 points, 12 boards, 12 assists), and Trevon Bluiett added 23 points. Xavier poured in 52 points in the first half, going into intermission with a 15-point lead that left the final outcome all but certain. The only question here would be the health of point guard Edmond Sumner, who injured his knee in the second half of the win. He would miss the rest of the game in what coach Chris Mack described as a precaution but could be a limiting factor against Georgetown.
Why should you bet on Georgetown?
I only take Georgetown in this one if I’m getting 20 points, even with the Hoyas playing at home. The Hoyas are 7-7 in Big East play, but Xavier is not one of the teams that needs to worry about the Hoyas. They have dropped five of six games in conference play, and the fact that the Pirates were able to have their way with Georgetown at the Verizon Center should tell you about the lack of resolve the Hoyas have been bringing. Seton Hall didn’t even make a field goal in the last 14:07 of the game — and they still not only won the game but tied the second half at 36.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I like Xavier to head to Georgetown and deliver a rout, making a statement about their seeding in the NCAA tournament. I’m picking the Musketeers, 90-65.
