How to Bet the NC State Wolfpack vs Duke Blue Devils Game

The North Carolina State Wolfpack (12-11) get on the bus this Saturday to take on one of their Research Triangle ACC foes when they take on the Duke Blue Devils (16-6). Tipoff is at 2:00pm Eastern time. Duke is in the unusual position of being unranked, and the Wolfpack would like nothing better than to roll into Cameron Indoor Stadium and pile on the Blue Devils’ woes this NCAAB betting season.

Why should you pick the Wolfpack?

It’s true that Duke won the first game at North Carolina State a couple weeks ago, but Duke has not done well at home. Notre Dame and Syracuse rolled into Durham and left with conference wins — and neither of those programs is ranked either. Duke has lost four of six after getting off to a decent conference start, and this is a time when they are vulnerable.

Keep an eye on Anthony “Cat” Barber. Even though N.C. State is well down the standings in the ACC, Barber is the leading scorer in the conference. He poured in 31 points in the Wolfpack’s loss at Florida State. He has scored 30+ points three games in a row and six times overall in conference play. The Wolfpack were down by a dozen at intermission but came all the way back to get within two several times in the waning minutes, turning the ball over only twice after halftime. So this is a scrappy team.

Why should you bet on Duke?

It’s true that Duke is not in the top 25 for the first time since 2007, but Duke is not at the point where they would fall at home to one of the bottom teams in the conference. After all, N.C. State has a loss to William & Mary this season. So I don’t think the Wolfpack are going to roll in and get an easy win. In their last game, a comeback win over Georgia Tech (12-10, 2-7 ACC), the Blue Devils polished off a team near the bottom of the standings — on the road, without Coach K (who missed the game due to an illness). They used a sticky man defense to hold Georgia Tech to 31 percent shooting in the second half, turning a four-point halftime deficit to a 17-point lead before Georgia Tech rallied to whittle that lead, but Duke held on. This is a team that has enough skill dealing with adversity to knock off the Wolfpack at home.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

Duke isn’t playing pretty ball this season, but they’re playing well enough to win these types of games. They won’t be knocking off UNC, Virginia or any of the other top teams in the ACC, but they will play well enough to win this one. I like Duke to beat N.C. State 80-68 on Saturday. That won’t be enough to bump Duke back into the Top 25, but it will help keep them on the right side of the bracket for the ACC tournament.
