This Saturday, the #2 Maryland Terrapins host the Wisconsin Badgers. The Terrapins (22-3) are in the running for a top seed in the NCAA tournament and are coming off a 93-62 walloping of Bowie State University. The Badgers (15-9) are in sixth place in the Big Ten and are coming off a 72-61 home win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The NCAA basketball betting odds for this one will be available on Saturday morning.

Why should you bet on the Badgers?

A 15-9 isn’t that impressive, but it’s more so when you think about the fact that they were once 9-9 and have reeled off six straight wins in Big Ten play. Against Nebraska, one of the heroes was Vitto Brown, a bench player who doesn’t usually do anything but sing the national anthem at home games. However, he came off the bench to score 18, while Nigel Hayes did his usual magic and poured in 20. The Wisconsin Badgers are finding their stroke from three-point land, as they hit 11 of 18 against the Cornhuskers. They showed that they can handle a zone defense; they need to show they can do the same against a man defense when they visit Maryland. This team is putting together a streak at the right time to impress the tournament selection committee, but they will need a couple of big wins down the stretch to jump off the bubble and make it in. A win over the Terrapins would be a huge step.

Why should you put your money on Maryland?

The Maryland Terrapins have won 27 straight home games and are still the favorite among many ESPN experts to win the national championship. Their game against tiny Bowie State is not a good predictor for how they will do against a quality Big Ten opponent, but this is a team that knocked off Iowa at home and has played consistently strong basketball on both ends of the floor, led by Diamond Stone and Rasheed Sulaimon to play offense that relies on speed and defense that yields turnovers by the buckets. Unless the spread is a dozen or more, I’d be picking Maryland to win this one.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
