The #16 Wisconsin Badgers head to Columbus to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in Big Ten basketball on Thursday night. The Badgers (22-5, 11-3 Big Ten) stopped the bleeding of a two-game skid by knocking off then-#23 Maryland at home, 71-60, on Sunday. The Buckeyes (15-13, 5-10 Big Ten) have dropped three in a row, most recently falling at home to Nebraska, 58- 57, on Saturday. Once you’ve finished checking out this preview, take a look at our college basketball lines.

Why should you bet on the Badgers?

Wisconsin looked like they might be sliding to a lower seed in the NCAA tournament until they knocked off Maryland at home on Sunday. Nigel Hayes put up 21 points and Ethan Happ chipped in 20, as the two big men did a number on the Terrapins inside. Bronson Koenig dropped nine on the Terrapins in the second half, returning from a left calf injury. The Badgers shot 51 percent after the intermission, turning a six-point halftime deficit into an 11-point win. Freshman Brevin Pritzl even got into the mix, putting up seven points and seven rebounds as Happ had to spend a lot of time in the second half on the bench with four fouls. That balance should help the Badgers knock off Ohio State on Thursday as well.

Why should you put your money on the Buckeyes?

It looked like Ohio State was going to pick up their sixth win in conference play, as they had a five-point lead with 25 seconds left to go. However, Nebraska nailed a three, Ohio State turned the ball over and fouled Glenn Watson on the lay-up, setting up a three-point play that Watson converted to give the Cornhuskers a one-point lead — which they would hold for the win. Jae’Sean Tate did score 14 points and pull down 10 rebounds, but he picked up his dribble at the wrong time in that last Ohio State possession, having to throw up an awkward jump shot. Trevor Thompson and Marc Loving scored 13 apiece for the Buckeyes, who are now almost assured of missing the NCAA tournament. If you like Ohio State, you see Wisconsin going back into that cruise mode that led to losses to Michigan State and Northwestern while the Buckeyes find some intensity that they haven’t shown yet this season.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Wisconsin to continue that strong trend they showed against Maryland and add to their tournament resume with a win over Ohio STate. I predict a final score of Wisconsin 71, Ohio State 63.
