Wichita State vs Dayton March Madness Betting Spread, Pick & TV Info

The 10th-seeded Wichita State Shockers (30-4) tangle with the seventh-seeded Dayton Flyers (24-7) on Friday night in the field of 64 in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Dayton won the regular-season title in the Atlantic 10 conference. Despite holding that 10-seed, Wichita State rides a 15-game winning streak into this game — and they won both the regular season and tournament titles in the Missouri Valley Conference. Here’s a closer look at the NCAAB spread for the game.

NCAAB Odds: Wichita State (-6), O/U 147

Why should you bet on the Shockers?

The Shockers have only one bad loss this season — to Illinois State by 14 — but the tournament committee still kicked them down to a 10-seed. They did beat Illinois State twice after that loss, by a combined total of 61 points. While they did lose to Louisville, Michigan State and Oklahoma State in non-conference play, they also beat LSU and Colorado State. So Wichita State, making their sixth consecutive appearance in the Big Dance, is ready to make a statement. Markis McDuffie leads the team with 11.8 points per game, but the Shockers have real balance as five different players average at least nine points per contest.

Why should you put your money on the Flyers?

Dayton had a solid season in their Atlantic-10 slate, and they probably are just as wronged by the tournament committee as Wichita State, as they deserved their seven-seed and should have a lesser opponent. They beat Alabama, Vanderbilt and New Mexico in non-conference play, while their non-conference losses to Northwestern, Nebraska and Saint Mary’s came by a total of nine points. They did lose to George Washington to end the regular season and then got upset by Davidson in the first round of the A-10 tournament. Schoochie Smith, Kendall Pollard and Charles Cooke are seniors who have made four straight March Madness appearances. Can they lead the Flyers past a motivated Shocker squad, though?

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like what Dayton accomplished this season, but their late losses worry me. As the line indicates, I’m not the only one doubting these Flyers. I predict an 80-70 Shocker win.
