Virginia Tech (18-7, 7-6 ACC) has won two straight, including a 2-point home upset of Virginia and a three-point win at Pitt on Tuesday night. Why should you bet on the Hokies?

Virginia Tech was ice-cold from the floor in the first half at Pitt, and they went into the locker room down by 11 points. However, they shot 50 percent from the floor after the intermission, and when Seth Allen nailed a three with 1:08 left, Virginia Tech had the lead the rest of the way. Pitt had three open looks from downtown on their last possession to tie, but they missed all three of them. Virginia Tech has now played five ACC matchups that were decided by two possessions or fewer. Ahmed Hill led the way with 17 points. This game featured a quick turnaround from the Hokies’ big upset over Virginia on Sunday, but they were able to find their energy when they needed it most.

Why should you put your money on the Cardinals?

Louisville jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first half against Syracuse, but the Orange closed that deficit to four at the break and then forced the game to overtime. Louisville reserve Ryan McMahon scored seven points in the extra frame — part of an 18-point Cardinal outburst that still barely outpaced the 14 points that Syracuse put up after regulation had ended. Louisville held Syracuse to just 8 for 34 from downtown, and that proved the difference on a frenetic night. If Louisville can play similar defense outside against Virginia Tech, they should hold serve on their home floor.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

Virginia Tech needs this win to cement their place in the NCAA basketball tournament next month. However, I don’t see Louisville giving up this sort of win on their home court. I predict a final score of Louisville 70, Virginia Tech 63.
