The second-ranked Villanova Wildcats (25-2, 12-2 Big East) head up Interstate 95 to take on the Seton Hall Pirates (16-9, 6-7 Big East) on Saturday afternoon. Villanova has won six in a row, most recently taking down DePaul on the road, 75-62, on Monday night. Seton Hall had lost three of five before upsetting then-#20 Creighton at home, 87-81, on Wednesday night. After reading this preview, be sure to review our NCAAB lines for this week’s games.

Why should you bet on the Wildcats?

The Villanova Wildcats are on cruise control right now — in the right way. They held DePaul to just 18 points in the first half, going into the locker room with a 21-point lead, so the 44 points that the Blue Demons put up after halftime didn’t do any damage. Jalen Brunson led the way for Villanova with 18 points, and Josh Hart added 16. Darryl Reynolds (rib) still remained on the shelf, so Mikal Bridges and Kris Jenkins have to shoulder his load down low, but the Wildcats still had more than enough to put away DePaul. They also harassed DePaul into 14 turnovers. If Villanova can come out with that same ferocity on Saturday, they should be able to handle things against a spunky Seton Hall group.

Why should you put your money on the Pirates?

If Seton Hall wants to make it into March Madness, they need all three of these wins on their homestand, and they opened in fine fashion against Creighton. Khadeen Carrington dropped a career-best 41 points on the Bluejays, including 10 in the last minute of the game as things got frenetic. Desi Rodriguez scored 18 points, and Angel Delgado put up 17 points and 17 boards. This game featured 16 ties and eight lead changes. It’s worth noting that Creighton is still without their starting point guard, Maurice Watson Jr. (out for the season with a knee injury). Can Seton Hall post a second straight upset on Saturday afternoon?

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

Seton Hall’s win over Creighton was huge. However, Villanova isn’t missing a key player like Creighton is with Watson. I like Villanova to stay in control and cruise to an 80-68 win.
