The USC Trojans head to Arizona on Thursday night to finish a three-game gauntlet in their Pac-12 slate: games against #5 Oregon at home, at #6 UCLA and at #4 Arizona. The first two have ended up the wrong way for the Trojans (21-6, 8-6 Pac-12), but they have still impressed as of late, running off a five-game winning streak before hitting that pothole. Arizona (25-3, 14-1 Pac-12) has won four in a row, including a 76-68 win at Washington on Saturday. Once you’ve finished checking out this preview, take a look at our college basketball odds.

Why should you bet on the Trojans?

USC looked dreadful in a 32-point loss at UCLA on Saturday, but to be fair, the Bruins were shooting lights out and were avenging an earlier loss to USC in the Pac-12 schedule. Bennie Boatwright had a solid game for USC, putting up 20 points and 10 rebounds. Given that USC only shot 33 percent from the floor (including 31 percent from behind the arc) and looked slow on defensive rotations, a loss was almost inevitable. If you like them against Arizona, you see them playing with more energy on defense and knocking down more of their shots.

Why should you put your money on the Wildcats?

Despite the fact that starters Kadeem Allen and Dusan Ristic were on the bench with injuries, Arizona still was able to deliver a sweep in the Pacific Northwest, taking down Washington State and Washington. Freshman Lauri Markkanen usually takes his height outside and creates matchup problems, but he was needed on the post, and he responded well, putting up 26 points and 13 rebounds. Allonzo Trier chipped in 21 points as well, knocking down a career-best five three-pointers. If that same offensive balance shows up against USC, Arizona should take another win at home.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

USC has come a long way this season, improving their play during the Pac-12 slate, but I don’t see them beating Arizona on the road. I predict a final score of Arizona 74, USC 67.
