College Basketball Parlay Picks for Sweet 16

Written by on March 23, 2016

Not only parlay picks offer college basketball betting fans a higher payout, but they also add some extra excitement to any night of gambling night. After all, do you remember in the movie Silver Linings Playbook when Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence HAD to get a 5 out of 10 in their paired dance contest, AND the Philadelphia Eagles had to beat the Dallas Cowboys, just so Bradley Cooper’s dad (played by Robert De Niro) could win back the money he had lost and that he had been planning to use to open a restaurant? Just in case you don’t, here’s the scene: So let’s take a look at these possible parlay picks.

College Basketball Parlay Picks for Sweet 16

Thursday: Oregon (-2) / Kansas (-7)

If you believe that Duke and Maryland have been left on the shelf way beyond their expiration dates, then you’ll like this parlay pick. Duke built up a 27-point lead on Yale, but then they were just a turnover away from letting the Bulldogs come all the way back. Maryland has been losing big games regularly since February, so the timer is ticking on both of these teams. That’s a big line for Kansas to cover, but they have the offensive firepower to blow away Maryland. Oregon has the speed on offense and will use a full court press on defense to wear out a Duke roster that might be the thinnest of the remaining 16 teams.

Friday: Iowa State (+5.5) / Indiana (+6)

If you like the plucky underdog, then this is the parlay for you. Indiana vaulted from eighth in the Big Ten in mid-January to the regular season title. They just knocked off the Kentucky Wildcats in the Round of 32. Iowa State is a team that lives (and dies) thanks to its high-powered offense. Their defense, on the other hand, is one of the most charitable of the remaining 16 teams, so while this team can score 90, they can also give up 90. If you’re making this pick, you think that Iowa State can run circles around the more pedestrian Virginia defense — at least enough to keep the game close — and you think that Indiana can put the brakes on the Tar Heel offense as well.

Friday: Wisconsin (+1) / Indiana (+6)

Call this parlay the Big Ten Cinderella special. You have two teams who were going nowhere at Christmas, and then they both went on big enough runs to make it into March Madness of all places. The Badgers’ Bronson Koenig hit not one but two big shots from downtown to tie the game and then deliver the win. They can do the same thing to a Fighting Irish squad that is not always that interested in defending.

Thursday/Friday: Maryland (+7) / Syracuse (+4.5)

Call this the Underrated Parlay. The Orange are a fairly significant underdog to a team from the West Coast Conference (although that team happens to be Gonzaga). Maryland has one of the most explosive offenses in the country, but they are a touchdown underdog to Kansas. If you think that both of these teams are due big redemption performances, then take this parlay.
