The #15 Dayton Flyers host the Bonnies from St. Bonaventure at high noon Eastern time in Atlantic-10 play. The Bonnies (17-7) are in fourth place in the A-10 but are coming off a 71-64 loss at La Salle on Wednesday night. The Flyers (21-4) are in second place in the A-10 but fell to St. Joseph’s, 79-70, in a key road loss that gave the Hawks a leg up in the conference race. Check out the college basketball betting spread soon.

Why should you pick the Flyers?

Dayton entered their matchup with St. Joseph’s as the Atlantic-10’s only ranked team, and they left without the top spot in the A-10 standings. Dayton now has to deal with St. Joseph’s and VCU in a tiebreaker for the top spot in the conference, and every win from now on in will count for all three of them. The Flyers had won nine in a row, building consistency in a difficult conference. Dayton has the talent to impose its will, coming in with a major chip on their shoulder as they want to right things. They have balanced scoring — four players hit double figures in points even in the losing effort. They have the experience to keep from falling into enough of a funk to fall to the Bonnies at home.

Why should you bet on St. Bonaventure?

The Bonnies are coming off a big upset loss at La Salle. Normally, I would say that this qualifies them for my Angry Revenge Theory (a quality team suffers an upset or otherwise disappointing loss and then delivers a whipping in their next outing). However, Dayton is also a potential Angry Revenge Theory team, having lost to St. Joseph’s. The key for the Bonnies is controlling the interior, as Jordan Price kept victimizing them for rebounds from the guard position. La Salle pulled down 41 boards in the game, while the Bonnies could only gather in 27. That makes a huge difference. If the line here is more than 10, then I might consider the Bonnies to be motivated enough to keep it close.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Dayton to start another winning streak on Saturday. I’m picking them to win, 82-71.
