Pittsburgh head south to Louisville to take on the Cardinals on Wednesday night in ACC hoops action. The Panthers (12-4, 1-2 ACC) have dropped an overtime thriller to Notre Dame and a game at Syracuse in conference play, while beating Virginia at home, also in overtime. #14 Louisville (13-3, 1-2 ACC) has lost to those same Virginia Cavaliers and Notre Dame, while beating Georgia Tech on Saturday. Take a look at our recommendations for this game as well as the rest of our online betting odds for the week ahead.

Why should you bet on the Panthers?

Jamel Artis found plenty of room to score for Pitt against Syracuse, putting up 23 points to lead the team, and Michael Young added 17 more. The top two scorers in the ACC struggled against the 2-3 zone defense that Syracuse runs — but that the Cardinals don’t run. Against man looks, expect Artis and Young to find more open looks and get back to their usual scoring trends. Given the luck that Georgia Tech had in pulling within three points against Louisville the other night, if Pitt is diligent, they should be able to find points in time when the Louisville defense takes some possessions off. Georgia Tech just went 3 for 15 to open that game — and Pitt shouldn’t open that ice-cold.

Why should you put your money on the Cardinals?

When Louisville looks at the tape of Syracuse’s win over Pittsburgh on Saturday, they’ll notice the three-point barrage that the Orange used to overwhelm the Panthers — draining 8 shots from downtown in the game’s first 13 minutes to take a 34-8 lead. The Cardinals have sharpshooters of their own, and Pitt needs to bolster their exterior defense to take care of that threat from Louisville. Donovan Mitchell dropped 20 on Georgia Tech on Saturday as the Cardinals finally won in ACC play, but the Louisville defense was the story of the day, as they compensated for poor shooting in the first half with a stifling attack, limiting the Yellow Jackets to just 18 points before the intermission. Given the success that Syracuse had in shutting down the Pitt attack, Louisville should be able to apply pressure and hold Pitt in check.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Louisville to stay on the winning path now that they’ve taken that first ACC win. I predict a final score of Louisville 70, Pitt 64.
