On Saturday night, the #17 Duke Blue Devils host the #8 North Carolina Tar Heels in ACC basketball action. The Blue Devils (22-8) are in fifth place in the ACC standings and are coming off a 79-71 victory over Wake Forest on Tuesday night. The Tar Heels (24-6) are atop the ACC standings and just held off the Syracuse Orange at home, 75-70. Get the updated NCAAB online betting spread for this game.

Why should you bet on the Tar Heels?

When these two teams met at UNC, Duke made an amazing comeback at the end to stun the Tar Heels, so I’m expecting the Tar Heels to be in full revenge mode. Since that loss, the Tar Heels have routed #11 Miami  and North Carolina State, but their loss to Virginia and their close game against Syracuse do show some red flags. The key has been the shooting of Brice Johnson, which is a streaky proposition. When he is on, the Tar Heels’ whole game speeds up. When he is off, then that up-tempo offense leads to stop after stop for the opposition.

Why should you put your money on Duke?

Which Duke team will show up? They handled Florida State and Wake Forest, but then they went up to Pitt and lost a very winnable game. This is a gritty team that has beaten the likes of Virginia and Louisville but lost to the likes of Pitt, Clemson and Syracuse. Grayson Allen put up 30 in the win over Wake Forest, but this is a team that does not know how to keep the gas pedal down for 40 minutes. If Duke is going to win this game, they have to play hard the whole way — like they did in the teams’ first meeting.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like North Carolina to reverse the outcome from the teams’ meeting in Chapel Hill. I’m picking the Tar Heels to come in and win, 76-71.
