Northwestern vs Purdue NCAAB Betting Pick

Posted by Aaron . on February 15, 2016 in

The Northwestern Wildcats travel to take on the #17 Purdue Boilermakers on Tuesday evening. The game is set to tip off at 7:00pm Eastern time. Northwestern (17-9) is in 10th place in the Big Ten and barely survived the Fighting Illini at home on Saturday, 58-56. Purdue (20-6) is in 7th place in the Big Ten and lost a big game at Michigan on Saturday, falling 61-56. Purdue is looking to solidify their seeding in the NCAA tournament with a win, while Northwestern is desperately clinging to the bubble.  The NCAAB betting odds favor Purdue to win this one, but taking the dog might be a great decision for hoops fans.

Why You Should Bet on Purdue

Purdue was up 56-50 on Michigan up in Ann Arbor on Saturday, until Michigan scored the last 11 points of the game. A key factor in the game (since Michigan couldn’t make many shots all night long) was the fact that Michigan was the first team this season to out-rebound Purdue — and Purdue was the last team left in the NCAA that had won the rebounding battle every game. This is an example of the Angry Revenge factor when I suggest bets. You have a contender (Purdue) losing a tough game to an opponent that they should have beaten (Michigan). Then the contender faces a team next that is even further down the standings in their next game, preferably at home (Northwestern). So unless the spread is over 10 points, I take Purdue in this game every time.

Why You Should Bet on Northwestern

Sometimes when a team is in a funk, and they get a win of any kind, they get some momentum and start snowballing. Northwestern beat another team who was struggling (Illinois) and could take that momentum into their matchup against the Boilermakers. Even though Northwestern only made 9 of 26 from downtown, they were able to keep Illinois from doing any more, and they came away with the win. Northwestern does have Alex Olah, a banger on the inside, and if Purdue plays another soft game in the interior, he could make them pay.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This is an Angry Revenge game for me, so I’m picking Purdue to win at home, 81-68.
