NCAAB Odds: Miami (-14)

Why should you bet on the Hurricanes?

Miami has won a lot of impressive games in the ACC this year. However, there remains a sense that the Hurricanes are still a little soft when it comes to winning the big game. Their senior guards, Angel Rodriguez and Sheldon McClellan, are committed to changing that impression. They have the experience and poise to settle the team in the adversity of tournament play, and the Hurricanes do a good job protecting the ball (just 10.6 turnovers per contest). McClellan is the Hurricanes’ leading scorer (15.8 ppg) while Rodriguez adds 11.7 more. Buffalo gives up a lot of points (75.9 ppg), and Miami should be able to take advantage of that.

Why should you put your money on Buffalo?

The Bulls are one of the top rebounding squads in the nation, pulling down 38.9 boards a game (#47 in the nation). Lamonte Bearden averages 13.6 points and 4.2 assists per contest, and Blake Hamilton scores 13.1 points and pulls down 7.0 boards a night. It’s true that Bearden is limited from behind the arc (25.0%), but he can dish the ball to shooters like Jarryn Skeete (1.7 3FG/gm) and Hamilton (1.5). They are aggressive on the inside, which means they grab offensive boards in bunches and also draw a number of fouls. The average 10.5 offensive rebounds per game and make 17.6 free throws on average.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Hurricanes should be able to feast offensively and overcome some difficulties on the inside. I’m predicting them to win and cover, 86-70.
