March Madness Iowa Hawkeyes  vs Temple Owls Betting Lines

When: Friday, March 18, 2016, 3:00 PM ET
Where: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY
TV: TruTV
Radio: 1210 AM WPHT Philadelphia / Temple Owls Radio
Live Stream: March Madness Live
NCAAB Odds: Iowa (-7.5)

Why should you bet on the Owls?

Temple is not a team that runs up big totals on offense. Instead, they focus on defense, limiting their opponents to 67.4 points per game. They lost to Connecticut, 77-62, in the AAC tournament semifinals, just going 4 for 20 from downtown. However, if they can maintain control of the pacing of the game, they have big bangers inside, led by Jaylen Bond. They have a lot more momentum than the Hawkeyes do, and playing just up the road from Philadelphia should give them a lot of momentum.

Why should you put your money on Iowa?

Did you remember that the Hawkeyes were #4 in the AP poll earlier this season? Well, what was a terrific season turned into a dumpster fire, as Iowa started losing games left and right. In the Big Ten tournament, they were still heavily favored to beat Illinois — and ended up losing that game as well. Sure, Iowa averaged 78.1 points per game over the year, but that declined in the last month. If Iowa is to win at all (let alone cover), they have to get back to their transition offense, which means aggressive defense taking away the ball, and then using the halfcourt offense to get Jarrod Uthoff his shots.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This is a ridiculous line, to be completely honest, given the Owls’ momentum and the Hawkeyes’ collapse. I am predicting the Owls to win straight up, 70-63.
