Why should you bet on the Wildcats?
Despite hitting some foul trouble early in their tilt against Auburn, Kentucky was able to rely on their long-range shooting to carry the day. The Wildcats knocked down 11 from behind the arc, including four from Malik Monk, who led the way with 24 points. Offensive balance was once again a key factor for the Wildcats, as five different figures hit double figures, including 15 from “Bam” Adebayo and 13 from De’Aaron Fox. Fox did foul out with 7:23 left in the game — and Kentucky missed 15 of their 32 free attempts in the game on a physical night. However, the team was able to get around the loss of their starting point guard with so much time left. Against Mississippi State, they will need to show more discipline on defense to avoid similar problems.
Why should you put your money on the Bulldogs?
Freshman Schnider Herard continued to show growth for the Bulldogs in their win over Texas A&M on Saturday. Herard posted 16 points, a career high, and Lamar Peters added 14 more to give the Bulldogs three straight wins in conference play. Herard, at 6-10, makes trouble for other teams with his interior play. Even though the Aggies have height inside, Herard was able to cause enough disruption to help the Bulldogs get to a victory. The Bulldogs will need to work on rebounding to hang with Kentucky — they lost the battle of the boards against Texas A&M, 38-23 — but they did a good job swiping the ball, forcing 22 turnovers from the Aggies. So despite the fact that the Bulldogs opened 0 for 9 and trailed 10-0 early on, they were able to scramble back and win thanks to timely steals.
Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction
I like the scrappy game that Mississippi State plays right now, but I don’t see them keeping up with Kentucky, either in speed on transition or on the inside. I like Kentucky to win, 84-74.
