Why should you take the Cyclones (+4)?

Iowa State has started 9-1, although they are coming off their first loss of the season, at home to Northern Iowa. For the most part, Iowa State has done well against the line, pushing in a 21-point win over Buffalo and covering in a home win over North Dakota State. However, they barely held off in-state rival Iowa, 83-82, even though they were eight-point favorites. In the past, they have been a tough road team in big games, winning and covering at Kansas, Texas and TCU last year. Even though Fred Hoiberg has moved on to coach the Chicago Bulls, the Cyclones still show that offensive flair that made them a force in the Big 12 last year.

Iowa State will face the Bearcats.

Why should you take the Bearcats (-4)?

Cincinnati is 10-2 so far, recently beating Norfolk State and VCU. They lost by 10 at Xavier and by two at home to Butler for their only setbacks of the season. In 2013, they were one of four AAC teams who made it to the NCAA tournament. Although last year was a bit of a setback, Cincinnati is back off to a strong start in the 2015-16 season. They outscore their opponents by an average of 15.2 points per game, and their nonconference schedule has included several competitive games against opponents who also figure to make it into the NCAAs this March.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

Iowa State probably has the higher pedigree going into this game, but I like the Bearcats to stand tall at home. I’m predicting an 80-74 win, meaning the Bearcats will win and cover — and the game will go over.
