The Indiana Hoosiers meet the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament — the first time the two teams have tangled in March Madness since Michael Jordan was a Tar Heel. North Carolina is the top seed in the East region and routed Providence in the second round, 85-66. The 5-seed Hoosiers knocked off a tough 4-seed in Kentucky, 73-67, using their stout defense to lock down a tough Wildcat team. Find out the updated NCAAB betting lines here.

Why should you bet on the Hoosiers?

Yogi Ferrell has been the star of the show for the Hoosiers this year, and it is true that he put up 18 on Kentucky in the second-round game against Kentucky. However, freshman Thomas Bryant showed a lot of toughness down the stretch, scoring 15 of his 19 points in the last eight minutes of the game. This is an Indiana team that, since January, has not done much but win, moving from eighth in the Big Ten to the top of the standings and then knocking off two tough opponents so far in March Madness. Kentucky is a team of stars, but Indiana is a team that works hard as a unit and has a defense that is much tougher than people give it credit for being.

Why should you put your money on North Carolina?

Providence hung with North Carolina through most of the first half, but what was a four-point lead turned into a rout in a hurry after the intermission, which is why Ben Bentile was still on the floor for the Friars even though he had four fouls shortly after the break. When he fouled out, the floodgates opened, and the Tar Heels turned a close game into a laugher. Brice Johnson led the way with 21 points, 10 boards and 2 emphatic blocks. This is a team that people (including me) keep underestimating, but then they keep delivering big wins — at least so far in this tournament. The fact that they also won the ACC tournament should tell people that (especially since there are six ACC teams in the Sweet 16) North Carolina is the real deal.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like North Carolina to knock off the Hoosiers, but I don’t see them covering a six-point spread. I like North Carolina to win this game, 72-70.
