Why should you bet on the Billikens?

I would give the point spread a hard look on this one. If you can get 12 or 14 points, you might take the Billikens. In their losses to St. Joseph’s and St. Bonaventure, Dayton has shown some vulnerability to hot shooting from the outside and a lack of resolve on the boards. So if Saint Louis can get out to an early lead, I don’t think they can hold on to win, but they might be able to keep things competitive. In their win over Fordham, the Billikens shot 52.3 percent from the floor, and they used three-point shooting to keep knocking away Fordham rallies.

Why should you put your money on Dayton?

Dayton is likely to fall out of the AP Top 25 when the new rankings for this week come out, which means that the Billikens are in the crosshairs of an Angry Revenge game. Dayton was firmly in the conversation for an NCAA tournament slot, even if they faltered in the conference tournament, but consecutive losses to St. Joseph’s and St. Bonaventure put the team in jeopardy if heading to the NIT after being ranked fairly late in the season. So the Billikens are likely to bear the brunt of the Flyers’ frustration, as Dayton had not lost consecutive contests in 77 games, and they had not lost a conference game at home since January 29, 2014 (20 straight wins).

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I expect Dayton to bring their “A” game to Saint Louis and bring their short losing streak to a swift end. I’m picking Dayton to win this, 82-59.
