The College Basketball season for 2017 – 2018 has arrived. The action on the court should be outstanding. Just like the 2016 – 2017 season – there are several teams with a chance to take down the national title. The conference races should be just as interesting, which then leads to March Madness, and the chance to win a national title. A total of 68 teams will arrive in the NCAA tournament, but only one will come away with the championship. Let’s take a look at some early College Basketball Betting projections/predictions for the 2017 – 2018 season, including the latest odds to win the title.

Early College Basketball Betting Predictions for 2017-18 Season

North Carolina will NOT repeat as National Champions

While you may think this is an obvious decision, oddsmakers are giving the Tar Heels a chance. Let’s be honest – the Tar Heels always have a chance because of their head coach Roy Williams, and their name – the North Carolina Tar Heels. They come into the season at 12/1 odds. The problem is – they lost too much talent. It’s tough to go back to back, and this is a season that the Tar Heels will have to watch the Final Four from home. Betting against the Tar Heels to get back to the national title game, and even the Final Four seems to be the way to go.

Villanova Wildcats may be the Value Bet

The Villanova Wildcats are one again talented, and Jay Wright has proven he can coach basketball. The Wildcats have several guys returning, and are just a season removed from winning it all. While it’s hard to go back to back, with guys that tasted success the first time – it’s a little more common to get back. The Wildcats at 20/1 seem to be the steal of the odds, as this team is legit.

The Big Ten will be Left out of the Final Four

While the Michigan State Spartans are a team you can always project in the Final Four, 2017 – 2018 will be a season with no Big Ten team playing for a national title. Over the years, Wisconsin has been there in the end as well. The top odds for the Big Ten is Michigan State at 7/1, while the Michigan Wolverines come in at 40/1. Solid conference from top to bottom, but in the end no elite level talent to win it all.

The early College Basketball Betting predictions are not good for the Michigan State Spartans.

The Duke Blue Devils will Cut Down the Nets… Again

Duke/North Carolina, North Carolina/Duke. Every season you have to wonder which of the two elite programs in college basketball will be there on the final night. This season, it’s Coach K and his Duke Blue Devils. Elite talent, and a nice crop of young kids. The Blue Devils are the Vegas favorite at 5/1. While the odds aren’t totally sexy, it’s nice to take money down when you can.

Arizona will Disappoint… Again

Sean Miller has a great knack for missing the chance to get into that national title picture. Last season, the Wildcats of Arizona fell short, and the media was all over Miller. Look for more where that came from this season. The Wildcats are 8/1 odds to win the national title and are massive favorites to win the Pac-12. USC and Oregon will compete and UCLA will be fine. The Pac-12 is going to play some solid basketball, but no national title from the conference again in 2018.
