Davidson at North Carolina Betting Pick and Odds

Posted by Peter Boysen on December 6, 2016 in

The 5-2 Davidson Wildcats head to Chapel Hill on Wednesday night to take on the seventh-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels. Davidson comes in with a 5-2 record that includes wins over Missouri and Arizona State but includes some big losses to Clemson and the College of Charleston. North Carolina (8-1) has only faltered against #13 Indiana (76-67) in a matchup that saw the Hoosiers go nuts from behind the arc. They have beaten #16 Wisconsin at home, and they routed Oklahoma State by 32. Take a look at all of our sports betting odds for this week’s action.

Davidson at North Carolina Betting Pick and Odds

Why should you bet on the Wildcats?

Davidson features the second-highest scoring duo in their backcourt in the nation, with Jack Gibbs and Peyton Aldridge. The team’s offense has rolled along at a steady clip for the most part, but in the last 15 minutes against the College of Charleston, they missed 11 shots in a row, and what had been a 47-36 Davidson lead turned into a 61-51 deficit, and the Wildcats simply could not recover. For the season, though, defenses have been frustrated by the shooting success of Gibbs and Aldridge, and if they can get hot against Carolina, they could definitely creep inside that point spread. Also, the Tar Heels will be without the services of Joel Berry II (ankle).

Why should you put your money on the Tar Heels?

Despite the fact that North Carolina is missing Berry, as well as Theo Pinson (right foot fracture), this is a deep team that should be able to run right past Davidson. Sophomore Kenny Williams III stepped up in the team’s 95-50 rout of Radford, burying his first five shots (including four from downtown). With that sort of depth, Davidson will have to get red-hot and stay that way from outside if they want to stay with the Tar Heels. North Carolina has the edge inside too, with height and rebounding, so they should be able to win whether this game stays slow or turns into more a track meet.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the pairing of Gibbs and Aldridge, but I like what North Carolina is putting together more. I predict a final score of North Carolina 82, Davidson 68.
