Why should you bet on the Friars?

Providence is one of those NCAA tournament bubble teams and will be motivated to beat one of the other teams in the second tier of Big East competition. Providence had dropped five of six before routing DePaul, but Ben Bentil and Kyron Cartwright got the offense back on track, along with Jalen Lindsey, and the Friars knocked off one of the bottom-feeders in the Big East. Their strong play at home could easily continue against Creighton, as a win would make the Friars’ tournament resume even stronger.

Why should you put your money on Creighton?

If Providence cannot control Geoffrey Groselle, then he could torch the Friars like he did with the St. John’s Red Storm. On Sunday, Groselle had 22 points, 11 boards and three blocks, going 8 for 9 from the floor and picking up the third double-double of the year. Cole Huff scored 13, and James Milliken poured in 19 more. Creighton remains two games behind Seton Hall for third place in the conference. They can shoot lights out, as they did against St. John’s (60%, including 8 for 19 from behind the arc). They also have a strong inside game (they outboarded St. John’s 46-22). They have scored 100 or more points four times this season, showing the prowess of their offense.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Creighton to put Providence back on the schneid in this one. I’m picking the Bluejays to prevail on the road, 71-63.
