Even though college football season hasn’t started yet, it’s never too early to start thinking about the upcoming college basketball season. Let’s preview the teams that the latest NCAAB Odds think have the best shot to win the 2020 College Basketball Championship.

Updated College Basketball Championship Odds – August 20th Edition

Michigan State +700

The Spartans will look to make a return to the 2020 Final Four. Although they lost sharpshooter and top defender Matt McQuaid, post player Nick Ward, and 3 point shooting big Kenny Goins, the Spartans are primed to have another great season.

Big 10 Player of the Year, and All American point guard Cassius Winston returns to lead the Spartans. He will be joined by Joshua Langford, who missed most of last season due to injury, along with top big Xavier Tillman. Factor in returning players Gabe Brown, Aaron Henry, and Marcus Bingham, along with incoming freshmen Rocket Watts and Malik Hall, and the Spartans and Coach Tom Izzo have the makings for a Final Four team.

Duke +900

Coach K. had one of the best recruiting classes in recent history last season, but lost most of them to the NBA Draft. Gone are Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, and Cam Reddish. But Coach K doesn’t ever have to rebuild, he just reloads.

Sophomore point guard Tre Jones returns, and will need to be a calming presence to the incoming group of phenomenal freshmen. Vernon Carey, Matthew Hurt, and Cassius Stanley lead the group of freshmen. This group isn’t as talented as last year’s group, but they’re better perimeter shooters, and they have the makings of a very good team.

Kansas +900

Bill Self is back at it again. This team won’t have the most depth, but he does have a talented group returning to Lawrence. After missing most of last season with an injury, Sr. Udoka Azubuike will man the inside for the Jayhawks. He will be joined by sophomore sensation Devon Dotson. The NCAA has finally ruled that Silvio de Sousa is eligible to play, so he will join the talented group of Jayhawks. When you have those three plue Ochai Agbaji, that makes for a pretty good combination. This team could be in the thick of things come March.

Kentucky +900

Different year, same old story. John Calipari loses one talented group of freshmen to the NBA draft, and in comes another one to take its place. The 2019-20 season will be no different, as Calipari has another talented crop of freshmen. Even though Ashton Hagans, EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards return for another year in the Bluegrass state, it will be the freshmen that lead the way.

Freshmen Tyrese Maxey, Johnny Juzang, and Khalil Whitney will be the top newcomers. This group is very talented, and will be one of John Calipari’s better defensive units.

Memphis +900

Penny Hardaway is taking a page out of John Calipari’s book, and has loaded up with some of the nation’s top incoming freshmen. Top recruit James Wiseman will lead this ultra-talented group of Freshmen. Precious Achiuwa, Boogie Ellis, DJ Jeffries, Lester Quinones and Malcolm Dandridge make up this talented group.

Hardaway will have to blend all of this talent together, but if he does, this team could be fighting for a berth in the Final Four.
