Butler vs Villanova Expert Pick
This Saturday, the #1 Villanova Wildcats (23-3) host the Butler Bulldogs (18-8) in Big East action. The Wildcats sit atop not only the national AP polls but also the Big East standings, while Butler is in sixth place in the conference. Butler comes in after an 88-75 home win over Creighton, while Villanova comes in having beaten Temple on the road, 83-67, in a non-conference game. We will have the updated college basketball betting odds soon.

Why should you bet on the Wildcats?
There are few inside forces in the nation right now like Daniel Ochefu, who put up 16 points and nine boards in the Wildcats’ win over Temple, their sixth straight victory. Jalen Brunson is emerging as a scoring threat, even as a freshman; he put 25 up on Temple. Kris Jenkins chipped 15 points as well. Villanova showed that they can keep their foot on the gas against a team that is unranked but strong nonetheless, going into the locker room at halftime up 12 and then scoring the first seven points of the second half to push it to 19, making the later Temple rally meaningless. They will be able to control the pace against Butler as well.
Why should you put your money on Butler?
It’s true that Butler won the last time they played the #1 team in the nation, when they shocked Duke in the 2013 NCAA basketball tournament. They also delivered a whipping to Creighton, nailing 48.1 percent of their three-point shots and managing the ball well (only six turnovers as opposed to 11 for Creighton). However, unless this point spread is over 20, I don’t take Butler seriously in this wager. They are playing at Villanova, and the Wildcats will be looking to make a statement going into the seeding thoughts of the NCAA tournament selection committee.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I like Villanova to control the pace against Butler, and I’m picking them to prevail, 90-72.
