Boston College heads to South Bend to take on the #19 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday night in ACC hoops action. The Golden Eagles (9-20, 2-14 ACC) have dropped twelve games in a row, most recently a 91-75 tattooing from Virginia Tech at home on Saturday. The Fighting Irish (22-7, 11-5 ACC) have won five in a row, including a 64-60 home win over Georgia Tech on Sunday. The online betting on college basketball will keep heating up between now and March Madness, so check out all of our NCAAB odds.

Why should you bet on the Golden Eagles?

This is a tough bet to recommend. Even the BC athletic director is jumping ship, as Brad Bates is leaving the school at the end of the year to join a consulting firm. It’s gotten really hard to remember the school’s 15-point home win over Syracuse, because the 16-point beating they took from Virginia Tech came with the Hokies missing one of their best players in forward Chris Clarke (knee). Jerome Robinson did put in 25 and freshman Ky Bowman added 16, but slow feet on defense turned a two-point halftime lead for BC into a rout as Virginia Tech put up 53 points in the second half. Boston College needs to regroup on defense — but can they do it against the Irish, who are just the second ACC team in the last 25 years to mount a five-game winning streak in the same season as a four-game losing streak?

Why should you put your money on the Fighting Irish?

Despite the fact that Georgia Tech came out in a zone defense, Notre Dame still knocked down enough of their big shots from downtown (10 for 29, including 3 for 3 from Bonzie Colson) to eke out a win. Colson scored 20 points and pulled down 11 boards to key the Irish, hitting big baskets every time the rest of the team got cold. Notre Dame has moved back into a tie for second place with Louisville and Florida State, behind North Carolina. I don’t foresee them having any problems with a moribund Golden Eagles squad at home.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Notre Dame to have plenty of open looks on offense against a dispirited BC bunch. I predict a final score of Notre Dame 80, Boston College 68.
