Why should you bet on the Longhorns?

When the three-ball is working for the Longhorns, they develop a swagger that makes them difficult to beat. Eric Davis Jr. poured in four three-pointers in the first half of their win over West Virginia, scoring 15 points overall. Isaiah Taylor led the team with 23 points. The Longhorns had 10 three-pointers overall and finished off an impressive season sweep over the #10 team in the nation. Texas is now 5-3 against teams in the Top 25 this season, a trend which will help them as they attempt to knock off the Bears. Their defense was just impressive, which means Baylor will struggle to score like they did against Iowa State.

Why should you put your money on Baylor?

Johnathan Motley has been red-hot for the Bears lately, and he continued that against Iowa State, putting up 27 points (including seven in overtime). This was a big victory for Baylor who had lost three straight home games in Big 12 play. They were still without Rico Gathers, their big man inside, due to illness, and he will reportedly be a game-time decision for the Texas game. Gathers pulls down 10.2 boards per game, and Baylor will need him to be in the lineup down the stretch. Against Texas, though, they have the shooters to make the points go up on the board at Nintendo speed.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

This really depends on the status of Rico Gathers for me, so pay attention to the injury reports tonight and in the morning. If Gathers can go, I like Baylor to win, 85-81. If Gathers has to sit out, I like the Longhorns to take advantage of that same interior vulnerability that has been hurting Baylor lately, and then the Longhorns will win, 79-70.
