The Texas Longhorns (10-20, 4-13 Big 12) host the #11 Baylor Bears (24-6, 11-6 Big 12) in the regular-season finale for both squads. Texas has lost six straight and seven of eight, including a 67-57 loss at Texas Tech on Wednesday night. The Bears had lost three of four but knocked off #10 West Virginia on Monday in their home finale. Check out all of our college basketball lines for this weekend’s action.

Why should you bet on the Bears?

The Bears had taken some real shots on the chin in recent games, losing at Texas Tech and at home to Kansas before beating Oklahoma — only to lose at Iowa State. Their win over West Virginia at home showed a new confidence in their offense, as they took the game to the Mountaineers — a team used to seeing their fullcourt presses swipe turnover after turnover and dictate the rhythm of the game. Baylor was able to push through the West Virginia attack and take a nine-point win, dominating the boards 43-23. A similar effort on Saturday should lead to an easy win over the Longhorns.

Why should you put your money on the Longhorns?

Texas has entered a true tailspin in the last weeks of this regular season, so betting on them against the Bears is a hard argument to make. To be sure, it will be Senior Day, and the Erwin Center will be loud, but if you look at how poorly the Longhorns played against Texas Tech, a team just a game ahead of them in the conference standings going in, then you can see how long a shot they are against Baylor. Texas Tech bench players outscored the Texas reserves, 45-21, and Texas Tech opened the second half with a 14-2 run that required two Longhorn timeouts and left the outcome without any real doubt. Texas will have to show energy that they really haven’t demonstrated since the opening moments of their loss at West Virginia if they want to hang with the Bears.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Shaka Smart as a head coach, but this is a lost season for Texas, and I don’t see them coming out with enough passion to slow down a Baylor team that is playing for the tournament selection committee now. I predict a final score of Baylor 80, Texas 64.
