Why should you bet on the Runnin’ Utes?

If you’re looking for a group of strong outside shooters, Utah is hard to beat. Against Arizona State, the Sun Devils opened the game in a compact zone defense, with their focus on shutting down Jakob Poeltl, the big man for Utah. The Utes knocked down their five shots from the outside (all from behind the arc) and opened the game on a 30-2 run. At halftime, the Utes were up 44-10. The fact that the Utes are so dangerous from the outside and have such a dominant big man should serve them well in the Pac-12 tournament and during March Madness — as well as against Arizona.

Why should you put your money on Arizona?

Arizona will come into this game looking for some redemption. Against Colorado, the Wildcats were tentative on the boards and didn’t play with a lot of physicality. Ryan Anderson and Allonzo Trier were not their normal selves on offense either. The Wildcats made some runs to stay in that game but ultimately failed to impose their will. Against Utah, you can expect that Arizona will have their focus back. I would definitely take Arizona if the line were at least five or six points, simply because I think the Wildcats will be able to keep things close down the stretch.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like Utah to sweep the two Arizona schools at home by knocking off the Wildcats on Sunday. I’m picking them to win, 76-74.
